At Disability SA, we provide an extensive array of disability support services, including accommodation, respite, employment services, and advocacy.

Our team consists of dedicated professionals, including employment specialists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Developmental Educators.

School Leaver Employment Support (SLES)

Support Workers/Mentors

Advocacy in Schools and Community

Providing support in areas such as career counselling, goal setting, preparing for work or study, confidence and capacity building, work experience opportunities and coaching.

Disability SA support participants every step of the way through the life transition of leaving school into further study or into the workforce.

Disability SA have an exceptional team of Support Workers and Mentors, who support participants with activities of daily living and fostering opportunities to work towards achieving their goals.

We provide flexible, engaging and meaningful supports to assist participants and their families within the home and in the community.

Disability SA’s team of DE’s and OT’s provide advocacy within a participant’s school, workplace or community to provide an extra voice to ensure that their wants, needs and human rights are communicated and actioned on together.

Developmental Educators

Occupational Therapists

Therapy Assistants

DE’s provide individualised supports to participants to increase their level of independence and quality of life.

DE’s work holistically across the lifespan to address issues which may affect a person’s functional capacity, level of independence and social inclusion.

This may include capacity building in: Social and emotional intelligence, building resilience and coping strategies, executive functioning, social communication, goal setting, community participation and sensory awareness.

OT’s provide individualised supports to people across the lifespan, promoting health and wellbeing, through increasing capacity and independence in everyday occupations of life.

This may include assessment and skill building in areas of: assistive technology, home modification, activities of daily living, self-care activities, fine and gross motor skill development and sensory awareness.

Under the guidance of a Developmental Educator or Occupational Therapist, Therapy Assistants work alongside participants and their families, school or work, and other key stakeholders to facilitate individualised supports to work towards achieving their NDIS and life goals.

Respite

Each one of our Disability SA owned and designed respite locations offers a diverse range of activities to enjoy.

Whether it’s exploring museums, playing on the beach, engaging in water sports, or experiencing the wonders of nature, there’s plenty of fun and educational experiences to keep young minds entertained.

Middleton (The Beach House)

Located in the serene coastal town of Middleton, SA. Our private and secure beach house offers not only a calming space but also stunning ocean views.

With a spacious outdoor play area and an array of scheduled and free play activities, children can relish a comforting home away from home.

Birdwood (Ollie’s Place)

Nestled in the picturesque country township of Birdwood, within the serene Adelaide Hills, Ollie’s Place offers a private and secure home for respite care.

Our thoughtfully designed space features two separate lounge areas, a calming corner, sensory walls, and a spacious outdoor play area complete with a pool table, bikes, scooters, and a charming cubby house, all set on a sprawling 1/2 acre property.

 

Camping and Retreats

In addition to our respite houses, we provide camping and retreat opportunities in the enchanting Riverland and captivating Flinders Ranges. Step into the wonders of nature and embark on unforgettable journeys with us.

Whether it’s a riverside escapade in Riverland or an outback adventure in Flinders Ranges, we have the perfect camping and retreat options for you

What is SLES?

The School Leavers Employment Services program is specifically tailored to address the unique needs and aspirations of young people with disabilities, who are nearing or have completed their schooling journey. Recognizing the potential of these individuals, SLES aims to provide them with the skills, guidance, and resources required to confidently step into the workforce and lead fulfilling lives.

At Disability SA, we recognise the importance of nurturing the next generation of professionals, who are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of individuals with disabilities.

Our student placement program offers a unique opportunity for students from various disciplines, to gain insights into the diverse and rewarding field of disability support.
