How our services can help you
Developmental Educators and Therapy Assistants
Developmental Educators (DE’s) work holistically across the lifespan to address issues which may affect a person’s functional capacity, level of independence and social inclusion. This may include skill building in:
- Social and Emotional intelligence
- Building resilience and coping strategies
- Activities of daily living
- Social communication
- Goal Setting
- Community participation
- Sensory awareness
DE’s can administer adaptive skill and sensory preference assessements. DE’s can also provide advocacy within a participant’s school, workplace or community to provide an extra voice to ensure that their wants and needs are communicated and actioned on.
Occupational Therapists
OT’s provide individualised supports to people across the lifespan, promoting health and wellbeing, through increasing capacity and independence in everyday occupations of life.
This may include assessment and skill building in areas of: assistive technology, home modification, activities of daily living, self-care activities, fine and gross motor skill development and sensory awareness.
Our team of Developmental Educators and Occupational Therapists are trained to administer and interupt a variety of adaptive skill and sensory preference assessements which are used to write

Assessments
Disability Inclusion Education and Training
Tailored to suit your specific needs, Disability SA deliver education and training in an evidence-based and supportive environment to guide organisations to build their capacity to provide services which are accessible and inclusive of people of all disabilities.
Education and training can be provided in environments such as local sport and community groups, schools, businesses, and local government sectors, coving areas such as:
- Understanding sensory sensitivities and creating sensory spaces.
- Accessible and inclusive communication
- Customer service and disability awareness
- Creating a safe and successful workplace for employees of all abilities.
Parent & Carer Support Groups
Disability SA offer a variety of support groups for parents and carers who have children that are living with a disability.
Disability SA aims to provide a safe space for:
- Parents and carers to share their experiences, successes and challenges with like-minded and understanding people.
- Building skills around self-care, mindfulness and avoiding carer burnout.
- Building strategies to support their child, including building independence, school refusal, life transistions etc.
- Hearing from speakers from various support organisations in their local community.
Advocacy in Schools and Community
At Disability SA, our team of DE’s and OT’s provide advocacy within a participant’s school, workplace or community to provide an extra voice, which ensures that their wants, needs are communicated and actioned on.
Our advocates take direction from the individuals and their families on how we can best advocate for them, ensuring the DE shares their voice effectively. DE’s also provide training and support so individuals and their families can feel more confident advocating for themselves.
Providing support in areas such as career counselling, goal setting, preparing for work or study, confidence and capacity building, work experience opportunities and coaching.
Disability SA support participants every step of the way through the life transition of leaving school into further study or into the workforce.
